Ambassador Mordehai Amihai-Bivas is the non-resident
ambassador of Israel to Barbados, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St.
Vincent and the Grenadines, Surinam, and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the
ambassador to two regional organizations, CARICOM and OECS. At the
Mission of Israel to the United Nations he is also the liaison ambassador to
the Latin American and Caribbean Missions.
A career diplomat since 1978, Ambassador Amihai-Bivas has
served at various posts abroad including Panama, Madrid, Tokyo, and as
Consul-General in Istanbul, Turkey.
At Ministry headquarters in Jerusalem, Ambassador
Amihai-Bivas held the positions of deputy-spokesperson and director of the
departments for the Pacific region, Southeast Asia and Northern Europe.
His last position in Jerusalem was as head of the Bureau for European Affairs.
Ambassador Amihai-Bivas was born in Jaffa, Israel in
1954. He is a graduate of Bar-Ilan University and the National Security
College, and holds M.A degrees in Political Science from the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem and Haifa University. He speaks Hebrew, English and Spanish.
Ambassador Amihai-Bivas is married and has five children.
