On Wednesday June 27, 2012, Consul General of Israel Daniel Kutner hosted a special presentation of an American flag to Harriet and Mark Levin, parents of Michael Levin who fell in Lebanon in 2006. The event was initiated by John Reynolds who designed and constructed an unique flag presentation case, and arranged with Senator Bob Casey to have to the American flag flown over the Capital on the fifth anniversary of Michael's death, on August 1, 2011.Reynolds was inspired to make the presentation in order to honor Michael's memory as both an Israeli and American hero.
The specially designed flag display case, contains the phrase "All gave some, some gave all," a traditional US military expression. Additionally an IDF paratrooper coin is embedded in the case, an engraving of military field memorial, with the Magen David symbol, burned into the case, and a photo displayed of Michael in his IDF uniform.
Family and friends of the Levin's attended the ceremony and discussed Michael's life and contribution in defending Israel, and being a model for Jewish youth identification with Israel.
